Wake Up and Smell the Roses – The Resurrection of the Gods
Father God El, the ancient god of fire, stands before a world that has grown quiet. The old gods have fallen, their fires have faded, and their voices have become distant memories.
But El refuses to accept that their story is finished.
He walks into a garden filled with roses and speaks his resurrection spell:
“Wake up and smell the roses.”
The words travel through the elements like a spark.
The Gods Awaken
Fire begins to burn again. Water starts to flow. The earth stirs beneath our feet. The wind moves through the trees, and love returns to the world.
One by one, the gods awaken.
El — Fire
The flame returns. El represents energy, determination and the spark required to begin again.
Yahweh — Water
Water flows once more, representing renewal, survival and the ability to adapt.
Allah — Earth
The soil comes alive, reminding humanity that food, nature and civilisation ultimately depend upon the earth beneath us.
Baal — Air
The wind rises, carrying ideas, communication and change across the world.
Jehovah — Love
Love awakens too, representing companionship, kindness and the relationships that give life meaning.
And above the returning elemental powers stands Zeus — Power, the force that turns possibility into action.
The Roses Are the Signal
The rose becomes the symbol of resurrection.
To “wake up and smell the roses” normally means recognising what is happening around you and appreciating reality. In this mythology, El transforms the phrase into something greater: a command for the sleeping gods — and humanity itself — to awaken.
The resurrection is therefore not simply about gods returning from the dead.
It is about ideas returning to life.
A struggling business can return. A neglected garden can grow again. A forgotten ambition can be rediscovered. Something that appeared finished can receive another opportunity.
A New Covenant of Growth
The gods do not return merely to rule. They return with a message: create, grow and rebuild.
Plant something.
Build something.
Help someone.
Develop an idea.
Turn an empty patch of soil into food. Turn an unfinished project into a business. Turn disappointment into motivation for the next attempt.
El’s fire provides the spark, but every element has a part to play.
Wake Up
The roses are blooming.
The soil is waiting.
The fire is burning again.
Father God El raises his voice one final time:
“Wake up and smell the roses.”
And with those words, the gods rise again.
The resurrection has begun.
