Bing Is the Best Search Engine: Why Its Algorithm Deserves More Credit

For years, Google has dominated conversations about search engines and SEO. But being the biggest search engine doesn’t automatically mean having the best algorithm.

At Stovin Advertising, we’re increasingly impressed by Bing and the way its search algorithm identifies, understands and ranks websites.

Bing Rewards Relevant Websites

The fundamental job of a search engine is simple: when somebody searches for something, show them the websites that are most relevant and useful for that query.

We believe Bing does this particularly well.

A good search algorithm shouldn’t make businesses feel as though they’re constantly trying to second-guess mysterious ranking changes. It should examine the content, authority, relevance and overall quality of a website and connect it with people searching for those services.

That’s where Bing can shine.

Good SEO Should Make Sense

SEO shouldn’t just be about satisfying a particular search engine. It should be about building a genuinely useful website.

That means:

  • Clear, relevant content
  • Well-structured pages
  • Strong titles and headings
  • Useful information for visitors
  • Genuine authority and reputation
  • Quality links from relevant websites
  • Fast, accessible and technically sound pages

When a search engine successfully recognises these signals, good businesses have a better opportunity to compete.

Competition Between Search Engines Is Good

Google’s enormous market position means many businesses automatically think Google = search. But there are alternatives, including Bing and DuckDuckGo, and competition between search engines is healthy.

Businesses shouldn’t necessarily judge the success of their entire SEO strategy by their position in one search engine.

If your website performs strongly on Bing but poorly on Google, that’s useful information. Rather than immediately assuming the website is bad, investigate why two search algorithms are interpreting it differently.

Give Bing a Try

If you haven’t used Bing for a while, try making it your main search engine for a few days.

Search for local businesses. Search for products. Search for information. Compare the quality and relevance of the results with what you’re getting elsewhere.

You might be surprised.

At Stovin Advertising, our view is simple: Bing deserves far more recognition. We believe its algorithm is one of the best in search, and for some searches, we think it produces better results than Google.

The search-engine battle isn’t over just because one company currently has the biggest market share.

Bing is a serious competitor — and we think more people should give it a chance.
